The Lynx was a project in Mr. Sullivan's art class in 1958 or 59. Classmates working on creating the Lynx were Ron Harris, Rodney Brod, Tom Goetz, Jon Ogur, Bob Williams and others. The Lynx has a welded rebar frame wrapped with chicken wire to form the body. The cement was applied by hand.

In August 1968, following the closing of U-School, SIU cleared U-School out of Pulliam Hall, and threw the Lynx away.  It was rescued by an alumni.

Through the years the Lynx has made appearances at All-School Reunions. The Lynx is now retired, and resting comfortably on a private estate north of Carbondale belonging to a member of the Class of 1965, where it remained during the 2003 reunion.

If you can expand on the history of the Lynx, please email us.

There was a second Lynx we are trying to track down.

During the 1963-64 school year, senior Rod Bradfield created a mold for a Lynx wall hanging.   Subsequently that mold was cast and hung in the school. If anyone knows what happened to that Lynx, please email us.
