Yearbooks
Yearbook History
University High School students appeared in the SIU Obelisk beginning in the first issue in 1914.
U-High began publishing yearbooks of it's own in 1940. The U-High yearbooks were named the Mummy Case
from 1940 thru 1951. In the Fall of 1951 U-School moved into Pulliam Hall, which was specifically
designed and built for U-School, and the yearbook was renamed the Tower
beginning with the 1952 edition. The yearbooks remained the Tower through the
1968 edition, which was the last.
Note that during World War II no yearbooks were published in 1944 & 1945. The Class of
1944 was pictured in the last issue of the year of the Sphinx, the high school newspaper.
The newspaper pictures of the Seniors are shown here.
We have been unable to locate senior pictures for the Class of 1945.

Yearbook Collection
Our collection of U-High yearbooks is unfortunately incomplete. We are currently missing 1940 and 1942.
If you have either of these years please consider donating them to the Reunion Committee.
Yearbook Donations
We would like to ask that no Mummy Case or Tower ever be discarded by an alumni
or family. Rather than let a piece of our history slip away, please donate your unwanted
yearbooks to the Reunion Committee. For information on donating yearbooks, please contact
Dede Ittner ('57).
